The Grampians National Park, known by Aborigines as "Gariwerd", forms the south-western extremity of the Great Dividsing Range. Excavations indicate Aboriginal tribes have lived in the area for over 3,000 years. Many rock paintings have been found in caves throughout the Grampians with Aboriginal culture forming an integral part of this wilderness region.

Grampians National Park

Prolific with seasonal wildflowers, Aboriginal paintings and spectacular views, the Grampians is an unspoilt region with ancient origins. We'll stop for a lunch break (own expense) at Halls Gap. Enjoy spectacular views from Boroka Lookout, an opportunity to walk the Balconies to the Jaws of Death, the view of McKenzie Falls from the Bluff and look for kangaroos on the northern plains. Return to Melbourne via Mt Difficult Range and Rose's Gap.

Native Wildlife

Halls Gap and the Grampians region provide an opportunity to look for wildlife in a natural habitat; sometimes hard to find, but you won't forget it when you do. Look for Emus on the plains; Koalas high in the trees; Eagles soaring; you're sure to find Kangaroos...if you don't they'll find you!
